Holy Family Cross

The cross hanging in front of the window behind the altar was installed in 2004. It was the prayerful desire of all those involved in the selection of this cross that it bring an even more meaningful experience to our worship.

According to tradition, the cross of the crucifixion was made of dogwood.  Therefore, the iron part of the cross is made like the bark of the dogwood tree.  The flower in the center of the cross arms is the dogwood flower.  The basis for the vine design in the glass is taken from

John 15:1: Jesus said, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman."

John 15.16: "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit...."

Lights within the cross enhance the design with diffused light.   Pamela Mayer designed the cross and carved the design.   Bill Durrett of our parish constructed the iron cross.
