     Holy Family Timeline

The Rt. Reverend Charles Judson ChildThe founding members of the congregation that would eventually become Holy Family began meeting and worshiping together in 1986.  The first vicar was the Rev. Paul Ross who served part-time.  The congregation was originally called St. Francis Episcopal Mission, and in 1989 the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta formally recognized the group as a Worshipping Community.  Two years later the church was officially recognized as a parish, Episcopal Church of the Holy Family.  Prior to the establishment of a permanent home on Cove Road, Holy Family worship services were conducted in New Lebanon Presbyterian Church, the Chapel Assembly of God, and Chapman's Funeral Home.

In 1992 Holy Family purchased twelve acres off Cove Road and three years later erected a modular building (the current Conference Building). The facility was dedicated and consecrated on October 1, 1995.

In 1997 Holy Family established a Building Committee and charged its members with the development of plans for a permanent Worship, Education, and Fellowship facility.  In 1998 Holy Family purchased an additional twenty-seven acres.   In 1999 the  Gainesville, Georgia firm of Reynolds Architects, PC, with principal Garland Reynolds, FAIA was selected as the architect to design the new church.
